Editor’s note

Recent reviewers often singled out particular staff for praise. Mimi was mentioned for gentle, thorough callus treatment and for helping with fungal nails, while Jasmine and Elise were described as polite, professional and meticulous, especially when removing cuticles. One reviewer said May Sin delivered detailed nail art and that gel manicures lasted over four weeks, and another valued Ruby for explaining nail health and softening cracked heels.

Not every experience was positive. One reviewer was unhappy with the pace of upselling, and another felt the treatment was basic for the price paid. Recent reviewers also described a thorough callus treatment and careful cuticle work as standout qualities, while the gel manicure finish was praised for durability.

“Mimi helped treat the calluses on my feet and did a really good job. She was gentle and thorough, really happy with the treatment!”

“Absolutely horrendous experience I cannot even begin to describe the audacity from staff at this store. I just wanted to get a normal mani at a normal price but the staff tried to hard sell me a 600SGD package. After I refused, she started giving me attitude and became really impatient when doing the colouring of my nails. And here it comes, a sub-par plain gellish costed 106 SGD. Including a procedural "dead skin removal" for 10 SGD when no other salons in SG would ever charge separately for this. Will be reporting this store and I hope it get raided soon by the relevant authorities.”

“If I knew paying more than $300 would include basic cleaning, a little buffing, aggressive upselling and a complimentary critique of my dry feet, I might have reconsidered the “premium” experience. I’ve visited other Nailz Spa outlets in the East and never had this kind of experience, so Westgate was quite a surprise just not the pleasant kind. For over $300, I expected a proper mani-pedi and a thorough callus treatment. Instead, the treatment felt incredibly basic and the results were mediocre at best. I’ve had much better foot treatments elsewhere for less, with proper softening, wrapping, moisturising and actual attention given to the calluses. The upselling was relentless. Add this, upgrade that, consider this package… At some point I started wondering whether I had booked a mani-pedi or attended a sales seminar. Then came the comments about how dry my feet were. Yes, thank you, I’m aware. That is quite literally why I am sitting in a nail salon paying you to treat them. I didn’t realise the treatment came with a running commentary as well. A customer should be advised professionally, not made to feel embarrassed about the very issue they are paying to have treated. For more than $300, I expected the treatment to be the most impressive part of the experience. Instead, the sales pitch had more effort put into it than my feet. Premium pricing, mediocre results, plenty of commentary. At least now I know which Nailz Spa outlet I won’t be returning to.”

“keep pushing for me to add on more services even though I have already agreed to a package in which was still ongoing. Just finished my 3rd session already the staff asking me to extend when I still have more sessions 💀 makes me feel dread to come because of the staff constantly pushing for services.”
